Shredded BBQ Pork

May 24, 2016 by Housewife's Whimsy in Crockpot Recipes, Gluten Free, Recipes

IMG_20160330_200442789I love using my crockpot often to make dinner. It is a great way to have a hot dinner ready at night even when you may not have time to actually cook anything that day. This is one recipe we tend to make often since it is easy and very tasty. Basically just throw everything into a crockpot and let it cook away all day long. I love serving this with the Pretzel Bun recipe I posted a while back.Any type of BBQ sauce will work for this recipe. Our favorite is either the Famous Dave’s or the Sweet Baby Ray’s brands. You do not want to include all the BBQ sauce when you’re first beginning to cook it. Leaving some until the end will ensure all the pieces are evenly coated with a generous helping of BBQ. Just simply add it after you’ve shredded the meat, stir it around and let it cook for about 30 more minutes. This will ensure everything is evenly coated and warmed through.[amd-yrecipe-recipe:203]

Easy BBQ’d Ribs

October 06, 2015 by Housewife's Whimsy in Crockpot Recipes, Gluten Free, Recipes

100_3743We’ve had pork ribs sitting in our freezer for several months and I decided it was high time I made them for dinner. This recipe is VERY easy to make, basically just put everything in the crockpot in the morning and come back in the evening. I find it best to put the ribs on the grill for a few minutes after they are all done cooking to really sear in the bbq flavor right before you serve it.The original recipe is very sweet in flavor. I made a couple of additions that give it a spicier more complex final product. We used Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce, if you prefer to  continue that spicy flavor you can use a hot BBQ to really showcase that part of it.This meal is wonderful when served with loaded baked potatoes and either my savory kale and quinoa or my spicy kale and quinoa. Depending on what flavors your family enjoys you can really amp up the spicy flavor in these ribs with your kale choice. If you don’t need to eat gluten free, something like the pretzel buns would also make a great bread choice for this meal![amd-yrecipe-recipe:113]Source: Adapted from Six Sisters Stuff
