Flavored Coffee Syrups
Now that the weather has turned cold it means a lot more warm beverages! I have been making these simple syrups for a couple of years and I just love what they add. They are far less expensive to make than purchase. It is just as good, if not better than the store bought brands. They are really easy to make and will store in the fridge for a couple of months. All you need is one part water to one part sugar and a small amount of flavoring extract. If you like you can add some food coloring to represent your flavor. I make a large batch of syrup and then enjoy it for several months. Make sure you store in an air tight container in the refrigerator. My favorite combinations are Caramel Hot Chocolate and Peppermint Hot Chocolate. The plain syrup goes well in a cup of Tea. It gives you a slightly sweet flavor without the graininess of actual sugar.
